76 Pleasant Street Restaurant Review:

Enter this historic Victorian home within walking distance of the heart of Norway, and prepare for a dining experience that combines comfort and elegance the likes of which you’d find in fine restaurants in much bigger cities. The hospitality starts with a crackling fire in cooler months. The small dining rooms are rustic, but they’re filled with a more modern décor. Culinary team Bret and Amy Baker bring not only creativity but a flair for seasonal and locally sourced goodness to a menu that changes often. Don’t pass up the crusty bread served with butter. Start with the grilled romaine and asparagus, then share a dish of smoky mussels with hot chorizo and crisp frites. The native corn and lobster chowder, served in-season, is rich but not heavy. Seafood lovers have their choice of seared scallops, roasted cod loin or crisp skin salmon, each served with sides like grilled pineapple soba noodle salad or whipped cannellinis. Panko-crusted pork tenderloin or the pink peppered filet of beef are regularly featured on the menu. For dessert, the red velvet cake is surprisingly light, gaining depth from its dark chocolate frosting; consider the profiteroles, too. The wine list is brief, yet the selection covers enough regions and vintages to maintain interest.
