THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alchemy Restaurant Restaurant Review:

The contemporary ambience at Alchemy on South Park’s restaurant row is spruced up with rotating art, and the energy is high from an enthusiastic crowd. For a feisty start, try the piquillo rellenos, barbecue pork shoulder stuffed in a roasted piquillo pepper. If curry appeals, the Thai corn fritters come with green curry. Entrées are fairly meat-centric, such as a 16-ounce rib-eye, braised beef cheek in brown gravy, or the eponymous grass-fed beef burger. Vegetarians will appreciate the farro risotto bedecked with spinach, heirloom tomato, broccolini and shaved golden beets in an almond cilantro pesto. Alchemy also offers family meals like whole suckling pig for a minimum of eight people, served Cuban-, Polynesian- or Southern-style. Well-thought-out cocktails, more than 100 wine selections, winemaker dinners, absinthe service and sharp staff add further spark to the scene. Bottomless Bellinis and artisan Bloody Marys contribute a little spirit to Saturday and Sunday brunch. Low country shrimp and grits, frittatas and buttermilk waffles satisfy as weekend midday fare. For something unique, try the Butcher beer floats: gelato made with “The Butcher” Imperial Oatmeal Stout from Societe Brewing, served in a glass topped with the same beer.
