Angelo's 677 Prime Restaurant Review:

Local restaurateur Angelo Mazzone created a lot of buzz when he opened this contemporary steakhouse with rich hardwood panels, sumptuous leather seating and a private wine club with a $5,000 membership fee. Since then it has become the place to see and be seen in Albany. First courses on executive chef Jaime Ortiz’ menu vary from steakhouse standards including iceberg wedge salads with blue cheese to more inventive offerings such as the seven-hour cherry pepper pork. Steak lovers may want to try the bone-in filet mignon or the Kobe beef strip with or without a foie gras topping. Those not fond of red meat will have plenty of choices among the chicken, seafood and pork selections but vegetarians will need to make special requests. Interesting flavor combinations such as braised short ribs with pearl onions, cauliflower potatoes and citrus basil gremolata abound in this restaurant where the frequently changing menu, and the crowd, is always engaging. Oh, and don’t worry about not being a wine club insider. The notable 16-page wine list has plenty for non-members who don’t keep private wine lockers on the premises.
