When haute design and haute cuisine meld, results can often be mixed. Not so at Apiary, where French décor maverick Ligne Roset furnished the sleek room and Scott Bryan leads the kitchen. Dark woods, leather banquettes and low chairs with crimson accents create a modern colonial setting, but the hanging lights with chandelier cutouts and the chandelier shadows sliced from plexiglass sconces steal the show---that is until you dig into the menu. As you may have guessed, a favorite ingredient is honey, and it’s drizzled liberally on the roasted peaches, Serrano ham and goat cheese appetizer. Sedate scallops with eggplant caviar and chorizo oil are seductive. So is the fatty-good braised pork belly. More honey is painted on spice-crusted lamb chops worthy of Morocco, surrounding a flan, which reveals fried hummus. To keep with the theme, end on a sweet note with a goat cheesecake sugarcoated with lavender honey.
