Asadero Restaurant Review:

Exposed brick walls and wooden-benched booths don’t exactly evoke Mexican food, but the Day of the Dead skeleton that greets guests at the host stand and the salsa bar in the back quickly turn that impression around. The menu, too, is a departure from straightforward street-tacos fare: this is a northern Mexican grill. That means you can start with bone marrow, dressed in cotija cheese and cilantro, and continue with the carne asada platter, a giant cutting board piled with a full pound of steak, grilled cactus, beans and chorizo, served with endless stacks of house-made flour tortillas. The salsa bar has more than a half-dozen sauces plus cilantro, onions, radishes and more for dressing up the tacos. But while there are plenty of meaty main options, there’s just one dessert: chocolate flan. The wine list has a similar dearth of choices, so cocktails, especially the tequila-based selections, are a much better choice.
