The Barn at Blackberry Farm Restaurant Review:

Housed in a turn-of-the-century barn, this fine dining restaurant off the beaten path sources some of the sweetest heirloom produce and free-range livestock from the nearby Smoky Mountain range and beyond, much of the former culled from the property's own garden. The real working farm features foods indigenous to the 4,200-acre backyard of Blackberry Farm. Starters like the salad of citrus and Surryano Ham (a Virginia version of European cured hams) with pistachios and green onion vinaigrette tempt the palate, as do cocktail creations that charm with names that ring of the South, perhaps a Blackberry Bumpkin. Executive chef Cassidee Dabney changes the menu often, but you can expect regionally influenced dishes --- think wood-grilled mountain trout with fingerling potatoes, spring peas and fennel purée. Desserts might include Georgia olive oil ice cream with strawberry sorbet and pistachios. The 200-plus-page wine list, which weaves in a cellar of small producer Rhône and Burgundy varietals, reads like a storybook.
