Bartolo Restaurant Review:

Bartolo is another venture from seasoned Connecticut restaurateurs Arthur Michaelsen and his wife, Julia, who took over the space once occupied by Cello at The Marketplace at Copps Hill Common. The design of the restaurant reflects Michaelsen's take on what the dining experience should be, namely a shared one where customers not only interact through eating and drinking but are also invited to glimpse the food preparation process while it’s happening. White walls, a blackboard with the menu written in chalk, and tables constructed from wood salvaged in an old railway station mark the dining area. Choose from an array of panini, crostini and salads like the Bartolo with grilled chicken, lardons, pancetta, Gorgonzola, tomatoes, eggs and shallots in a balsamic vinaigrette. Entrées are inventive versions of traditional favorites: seared diver scallops over risotto, and hearty Tuscan-style stew, for instance. A regional wine list complements the menu.
