Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe Restaurant Review:

The Basnight name is legendary on the Outer Banks and the Lone Cedar Café, which carries their name, is no different. This large, open and airy restaurant is perched right on the waterline of the Croatan Sound, offering beautiful views of water, marsh and wildlife. Start your evening off with a drink in the Osprey Lounge. Appetizers include prosciutto-wrapped scallops, steamed shellfish and local favorites such as Wanchese clam chowder with its clear broth. Generously portioned salads like the classic wedge or Caesar are also available in smaller first-course sizes. Nightly specials may include fried green tomatoes, fresh whole flounder or soft crab bites. Basnight's is so proud of the variety of seafood they offer caught by local fishermen that they even name the person who caught it. This fare is heavily represented in the wide range of entrées --- from all kinds of fish, including tuna and tilefish, to crab-stuffed shrimp, seafood platters, calamari and more. The kitchen will even cook your own catch (cleaned, please) any way you like it and serve it up family style. Harris Ranch all-natural Black Angus beef dishes, chicken and pastas round out the menu. Brunch goes totally Southern with shrimp and grits, and a spin on eggs Benedict that includes a buttermilk biscuit and country ham hock. Basnight's has a 2,000-bottle wine cellar as well as 55 varieties of beer, eight on tap.
