Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Restaurant Review:

Beth Marie's in Denton Square opened in 1998, but its nostalgic black-and-white checkered floor, marble countertop and pressed metal ceiling might convince you that it's been around for a century. That's nearly how old its 1927 ice cream machine is; it churns out ten gallons of ice cream in 18 minutes, and they make their super-premium ice cream --- with 14 percent butterfat --- right on site. Waffle cones are house-made, too. Flavors range from cake batter to chocolate-covered cherries to bubble gum to "salty dog," a caramel ice cream with a sprinkling of salt. The menu covers the full soda fountain experience, with sundaes, banana splits, shakes and malts in 80 flavors, plus floats, sodas, lemonade and limeade. A snack-counter lunch menu is offered until 4 p.m., with turkey and egg salad sandwiches, soup and chili.
