BISq Restaurant Restaurant Review:

BISq, which stands for Bergamot Inman Square, features dark wood and brick walls for an ideal date-night setting. Sit in the front by an open kitchen or escape to the cozy back bar for its comfortable banquettes with fluffy pillows. Featuring ingredients from local farms, starters include scallop ceviche with charred cauliflower, aji amarillo, satsuma and avocado, and birdseed bread with pickled kumquat and black mint butter. Share small plates of N’awlins barbecue shrimp toast with creamy etouffée sauce; smoked lamb ribs with sour-orange glaze, veggie XO sauce and sweet honey; tagliatelle with beluga lentil; and pan-seared skate wing with golden beets in a beurre rouge. As part of its weekend whole-animal dinner series, BISq offers a dish of roasted beasts; one night it was juicy pork and cracklings in a light broth with sunchokes and wilted chicory. Enjoy it with something from the curated selection of French-focused biodynamic and organic wines and local beer. For dessert, consider a “charcuterie” plate with house-made honeycomb, citrus jellies, lemon shortbread cookies and slices of chocolate “salami” marbled with white chocolate and dried fruit. Sip Shire Highland whole-leaf pu-erh tea, coffee roasted by 4A Coffee of Brookline or dessert wines such as aged Madeira and sherry.
