THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED BLT Steak Restaurant Review:

Located in the W Atlanta – Downtown in Allen Plaza, BLT Steak, with initials standing for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, is named for the chef who lends his star persona to the operation, which is one of many restaurants he has launched around the country. While it focuses on steak, fish may actually be a stronger suit. We like the cured salmon, the hamachi with a mint-infused sauce and microgreens, the tuna tartare with its topping of crispy shallots, and the roasted fresh cod. We also dive into the popovers that arrive unsolicited at the table. But the hanger steak was too salty, and the strip steak lacked flavor. Braised short ribs are a better deal. Sides include jalapeño mashed potatoes (the pepper isn't too prominent), good grits and collard greens that are undercooked from a Southern point of view but still tasty. Desserts rock, especially the crêpe soufflé with passion fruit, a creation from the hand of pastry chef Erin Mooney. The wine list is extensive and still being developed. Many good by-the-glass choices are offered, and the by-the-bottle list ranges over regions and varietals, but is heavy on California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
