Bocca Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review:

Save for a few framed posters on the wall bearing the word “ROMA,” this Flatiron District restaurant might not seem very Roman. But one taste of anything on the menu will send you straight to the Eternal City, or at least as close as you can get without hopping on a plane and crossing the Atlantic. An arugula and strawberry salad or truffle-laced beef carpaccio get the meal started off right. Among a handful of pasta dishes, the sausage-laden Norcina (which actually hails from the Umbrian town of Norcia) and the amatriciana (served in the traditional manner with thick chord-like bucatini noodles) are winners. “Cacio e pepe” pasta is a treat as well: waitstaff stirs it all up at the table in the center of a large wheel of pecorino. Hearty secondi include a very good porchetta and satisfying seared tuna with eggplant purée. The all-Italian wine list does a good job of covering the boot from top to toe, with some nice selections by the glass.
