Brophy Bros. Restaurant Review:

With its backdrop of mountains and swaying boat masts, this seafood eatery in Ventura Harbor is nearly identical to the first iteration in Santa Barbara. A bustling mix of tourists and locals work over plates of steamed mussels and clams in order to mop up every last drop of extra broth with their crusty sourdough bread. A Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices, and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. Yes, there are a few non-seafood items, but you're here for fish. Libations are in order at this picturesque gathering place; although the wine list is fairly basic, there’s a good selection of beer on tap or by the bottle, as well as a full bar. If you can’t get a seat, stand outside and watch the workings of the harbor until one opens up.
