THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Buona Sera Ristorante Restaurant Review:
In the heart of Redondo Beach's Riviera Village, this capable Italian restaurant has a lengthy menu that’s solidly executed. The main room is a bit cramped and noisy, but the two small rooms in the rear offer more space and better acoustics for those who prefer a quiet meal. Start with a surprisingly light homemade eggplant Parmigiana in a tomato and basil sauce before moving on to the well-prepared pastas. Homemade gnocchi is served with shrimp and bay scallops in pesto and tomato sauce, and ravioli is stuffed with slightly sweet pumpkin complemented by sage leaves and a Parmesan sauce. There are a handful of Naples-style pizzas with simple toppings like Italian sausage and baby artichokes. For large plates, slow-roasted veal osso buco is bedded in saffron risotto, and rack of lamb is topped with porcini mushrooms and a truffle fondue sauce. The wine list has an ample selection of Italian and Californian bottles, but few offerings by the glass, and mark-ups are on the high side of reasonable.
