Go Go Cafe Restaurant Review:

Some Angelenos might associate the name Go Go with skimpy outfits and knee-high boots, but in the case of Arcadia’s Go Go Cafe, it’s more about the pace. This casual restaurant from Tianjin City native Eva Jheng rests on a busy stretch of Baldwin Avenue, not far from Santa Anita Park. The dining room houses just five tables, with photos of dishes on the wall, which primarily promote dumplings, noodle dishes and stir-fries. The menu preaches “less oil, less salt, no MSG,” and you will feel good after eating Jheng’s food, but she’s managed to retain flavor. Steamed dumplings normally showcase pork, but Jheng has opted for velvety fish that she wraps in delicate skins. Go Go Cafe also serves pan-fried dumplings with juicy pork, which is accentuated by savory salted egg yolk. Pork wontons bob in “red hot” oil, but don’t let the fire-red broth fool you --- these floppy dumplings are more about savory than spice. Leek leaf cakes are another winner, with three crispy pancakes containing glass noodles, scallions, scrambled egg and dried shrimp. To balance all this dough, consider the special sautéed vegetables that deliver a wide spectrum of textures thanks to sponge-like tofu, fibrous bamboo shoots, crunchy water chestnuts and earthy chestnuts. To drink, hot tea is pretty much your only play at Go Go.
