THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Hon Restaurant Review:

Hon-in-chief Denise Whiting created a publicity firestorm when she trademarked the word “hon,” which Baltimoreans have long considered community property. She later not only recanted, but also started anew with a makeover, courtesy of chef Gordon Ramsay and his “Kitchen Nightmares” crew. Gone was the spunky, second-hand shop setting complete with plenty of hon-themed kitsch, which had been the signature style of the sociable linchpin of Hampden's “Avenue.” In its place were a fresher, more modern color scheme and a stripped-down menu, with new takes on such comfort classics as meatloaf, fried oysters, and turkey dinner with all the trimmings. One thing hasn’t changed: the building still sports its gigantic pink flamingo out front. Enjoy fresh shucked oysters every Friday from September through June. If you have a sweet craving, try a slice of any one of the homemade pies.
