Sunset Marquis has earned the status of a legendary hotel because of its luxurious suites and villas, spread in a lush vegetation off Sunset Boulevard, which have housed actors, rock stars, filmmakers, writers and high-end travelers since 1963. Black-and-white photos of these luminaries line the walls of the restaurant's interior, but we strongly recommend sitting out on the patio. Since you are so comfortably seated, take the time to peruse the extensive wine list. Grilled octopus with chorizo is among the small plates. Continue with other refreshing seafood starters, such as tuna poke with a purée of edamame, and sesame and tempura; or hamachi crudo accompanied by pickled mushroom, avocado and black rice. More carnivorous cravings can be satisfied by the beef tenderloin with cipollini, shishito pepper and veal jus. Whipped ricotta lemon cheesecake with lemon curd, angel food cake and strawberry ice cream may end the meal. For lunch, try the chive gnocchi with seasonal vegetables or the signature cheeseburger.
