Char's Tracy Mansion Restaurant Review:
Char’s-Tracy Mansion in downtown Harrisburg overlooks the Susquehanna River, and its stately rooms are dressed in fresh linens and decorated with blown-glass artwork. Sophisticated, omnipresent staff and inventive American brasserie cuisine live up to restaurateur/owner Char Magaro’s high standards. Chef Ron Canady’s cooking tweaks upscale comfort food recipes. Buttery-soft escargots are laced with veils of baby spinach and crowned by cascading garlicky snail butter. Crispy seared trout reveals a thick filet of moist white meat accented by spicy-hot chipotle cilantro sauce and a splash of citrusy olive oil. Brasserie favorites such as grass-fed filet mignon and grilled center-cut NY strip stay on the menu for meat-and-potato fans, but adventurous diners are not disappointed by gamey-rich lamb tongue ragù or mussels showered in vodka and pungent with horseradish. Hand-crafted and shaken martinis range from blood orange to cucumber citrus and “pear-licious,” while the wine and spirits selections match the meal in variety and bouquet.
