THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chaya Brasserie Restaurant Review:

Chaya's sleek look features light-toned wood, bamboo ceilings and leather booths in the main dining room; a second, smaller room has a more sophisticated feel and a small sushi bar. Both look out on a view of the Bay Bridge. While a bounty of young (-ish) and moneyed line the bar for happy hour (daily from 5 p.m.-close), you need not be either to enjoy the flavors on the menu. French food is served alongside Japanese fare, with plenty of co-mingling throughout the rest of the offerings. For starters, we like the ahi tartare with sesame-chili-miso vinaigrette, and the Boursin cheese galette. Sautéed sea bass is stuffed with uni, langoustine and spinach; there’s a grilled rib-eye steak, too, along with sparkling fresh salmon and scallop nigiri. The heavily California wine list may not be the best fit for the Japanese side of the menu, so ask about choices from well-informed servers.
