Chelsea Chowder House & Bar Restaurant Review:

The gracious Art Deco décor of this one-time queen of the seas, now permanently docked in Long Beach Harbor, has been painstakingly preserved. Chelsea, the ship’s chowder house and bar, is relatively pricey but a less formal option to The Queen Mary’s Sir Winston’s restaurant. Start with a chilled jumbo shrimp cocktail or a dozen oysters from the raw bar, or perhaps a cup of New England chowder while enjoying the ambience and view. Moving on to main courses, one might consider the classic fish and chips or the cedar-plank salmon with Brussels sprouts, bacon and acorn squash. Landlubbers don't have a lot to choose from, but there are items such as rib-eye with buttered asparagus or the pan-roasted chicken with ratatouille. For pairings, a mostly California wine list is filled with familiar names and is, for the most part, reasonably priced. Desserts include white chocolate bread pudding and seasonal fruit cobbler.
