Tucked among hip clothing stores, nail salons and coffeehouses in trendy Ferndale, China Ruby remains a neighborhood favorite; it's counted on for well-seasoned Chinese standards at reasonable prices. Friendly, fast and efficient service adds further likability to this tiny, unassuming café, where carryout orders stack up behind the counter and the tables number fewer than a dozen. We suggest such standards as the mu shu pork, almond boneless chicken, kung pao shrimp and chicken, Peking shrimp with snow peas, General Tso's chicken, as well as spicy Mongolian beef and tangy lemon chicken. There's also a nice selection for vegetarians, including the vegetable mu shu accompanied by thin pancakes to make your own "taco."
