Chuck's Waterfront Grill is located at Santa Barbara's harbor. The views from the glassed-in outdoor setting are prime, especially at sunset. The outdoor patio features linen-covered tables and Hawaiian music, while inside the scene pays tribute to the local fishing industry with a large net used by fishermen in the 1930s hanging from the ceiling. But the overall décor emphasizes plush couches and dark woods. The dinner menu balances seafood, much of it reeled in on local boats, and quality meats. We enjoy the seared ahi, crusted with sesame seeds, served rare and drizzled with a spicy wasabi sauce. We are also fans of the USDA Prime steaks, from filet mignon to sirloin, and the namesake Hawaiian chicken is good, too. Brunch sees eggs Benedict, along with weightier fare like burgers and seafood. Chuck’s also makes a mean clam chowder, and traditional mud pie is a must for dessert. The wine and spirits list is moderate, with a selection of local wines being at the forefront. The service sometimes lags, but most people focus on the views instead.
