THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED City Diner Restaurant Review:

Name a quintessential diner dish and this popular eatery offers it: half-pound burgers for $7, hand-cut fries for a buck more, liver and onions, meatloaf, omelets, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy --- and, of course, blue plate special nights Monday to Wednesday, when customers descend for huge portions of classic meals like chicken with milk gravy, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and cornbread. Desserts (naturally) include fruit and cream pies, carrot cake, banana splits and hand-dipped shakes. Though there are a handful of beers and wines, caffeine is the fix everyone is looking for. This outpost is open through the night Friday and Saturday, and the Grand Center arts district location (541 Grand Blvd., 314-533-7500) welcomes the post-theater crowd until 3 a.m.
