Craft & Commerce Restaurant Review:

In reaction to clutter and the dilution of intellectual culture, Arsalun Tafazoli and Nate Stanton created Craft & Commerce as a modern day meeting spot for the exchange of ideas over cocktails and bar food. Design-wise, books line the shelves, and quotes from classics are written in chalk across the walls and in pen on the olive-green banquettes. Taxidermy is a theme, too. Try the Wimbledon Fizz with Pimms and egg whites, or share feisty rum-Champagne cocktails from 38-ounce punch bowls. Nibble on white cheddar burgers, but don't ask for ketchup, as it's a condiment without a home at C&C. The eclectic menu sports three-layer salmon BLTs, roasted bone marrow, fried dill pickles and Devils on Horseback --- bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with pepper jack. Beignets, bratwurst hash and fried chicken and biscuits are standouts on the brunch menu. For dessert, don't miss the famed ice cream sandwich with candied bacon. Rotating craft beers spill from taps, and there are beer cocktails, too, like the "Up in Smoke" featuring Allagash Curieux, Islay scotch, Fuji apples and lime. Not surprisingly, the bartenders are well-versed and good conversationalists.
