THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Crystal Jade Jiang Nan Restaurant Review:
Occupying over 20,000 elegantly outfitted square feet --- 4,000 of which are outdoors, commanding unique panoramas --- this fancy, first-in-the-USA outpost of a successful Singapore-based chain focuses on dim sum and regional Chinese fare from Szechuan, Zhejiang, Hunan and other points south of the Yangtze River (although Peking duck, made with apple wood-roasted birds, hails from farther north). Freshness is a priority in everything on Crystal Jade's lengthy menu: tender shrimp har gow; sour-and-spicy seafood chowder; rich ma po tofu; soothing vegetarian cashew fried rice; smoky roasted suckling pig; sticky walnut tarts. All are prepared by a team of chefs in several on-site kitchens. Made with Kurobuta pork, a signature dish is xiao long bao: fluffy white steamed dumplings containing hot soup. Live crab, lobster and other seafood are also available. A mahogany-walled bar serves prime Japanese whiskey and cocktails such as the tangy Sober Drunkard. This showplace is about as far in spirit (and prices) from funky hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants as you can get.
