Dean Street Townhouse Dining Room Restaurant Review:

The conversion of four Georgian houses was bankrolled by Richard Caring, who owns Caprice Holdings (Le Caprice, The Ivy, Scott’s, J. Sheekey and more) and Nick Jones (Soho House group). They’ve spent an impressive amount of money turning what was a Pitcher & Piano pub into a boutique hotel and a comfortable, club-like wooden floored dining room with a long bar you can eat at and a collection of art on the walls that wouldn’t disgrace the best contemporary gallery. If you can get a reservation, you’re likely to be sitting next to the odd star or three. The menu remains dependable with such dishes as boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast, and an all-day line-up of smoked salmon and baked scallop with chervil cream for starters, and good salads and mains from fish ‘n’ chips, cheeseburgers and steaks. Bread and butter pudding, steamed ginger sponge and custard, and shareable sherry trifle? How much more British can you get? Pre- and post-theater menu 2 courses £16.50, 3 courses £19.50.
