Der Biergarten Restaurant Review:

Perched on a second story above the street, Der Biergarten serves decent traditional home-style German cuisine accompanied by good brews on draft (get the Bitburger), thankfully not served in frosted glasses. Guests eat in an outdoor dining area with bench seating at long picnic tables, as might be found in an authentic Biergarten, or inside at tables and chairs. Visually, the place takes cues from the traditional dining spots in downtown Munich: heavy, dark beams across the ceiling; warm-light chandeliers; hand-painted murals. For starters, there are traditional potato pancakes with apple sauce, crisp but needing more onion. Local producer Patak --- itself of eastern European origin --- supplies the bratwurst and knackwurst. Various schnitzels and traditional roasted pork shank are offered. Quite tasty sauerbraten comes with plenty of red cabbage, but also, mysteriously, with french fries? No traditional kartoffelklõsse (potato dumplings)? Opt instead for mashed spuds or the käsespätzle (cheese noodles). Rinderrouladen (beef slices rolled around a filling of pickles and bacon and braised) is another classic dish. For dessert, go for the strudel, although the pastry wasn't as crisp as it should be.
