Emidio's Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Inventive Portuguese seafood and meat dishes from chef Jose Emidio Sapeta are the main draw at this warm, family-owned restaurant. We like to start with the caldo verde, especially in cold weather, as this is a bracing soup, thickened with creamy potato and flecked with chopped greens and occasional pieces of seasoning sausage. Linguiça, a classic Portuguese sausage, is grilled then sliced and served simply, its juices to be mopped up with crusty bread. Bacalhao, or salt cod, is prepared home-style, paired with potatoes and scrambled eggs; the serving is generous, easily enough for two. Likewise the pork with clams offered as a special. Try the shrimp in a cilantro-studded cream sauce, too. Italian pastas and the occasional Spanish special, such as paella, also are on the menu, along with a number of small plates from all three cuisines. Many dishes are presented in earthenware casseroles, keeping faith with the ambience. For dessert, get the straightforward flan or the good tiramisu. The wine list has a few Portuguese labels, so you can count on a vinho verde to go with the seafood, or a Periquita for any of the meats.
