Fishing With Dynamite Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: After successfully partnering on M.B. Post, chef David LeFevre and the Simms Restaurant Group (Simmzy's, Tin Roof Bistro) followed up with Fishing With Dynamite just footsteps away in the former Talia's space. (It's close enough that LeFevre can dart between them to keep tabs on both establishments.) LeFevre formerly helmed the noted seafood restaurant Water Grill and has experience in prestigious kitchens in France, Asia and other spots around the globe. Here he revisits the East Coast fishing nostalgia of his childhood. The small room, which encompasses a raw bar, cocktail bar and tables, can cram in 36 diners and can get quite loud with all the hustle and bustle. The décor features light tones, and mismatched silverware brings a homey touch.

Food & Drinks: Start off with something fresh from the raw bar or the Cape Cod squash rolls --- a recipe from LeFevre's mother. Depending on your group size, choose one of the three seafood platters (The SS Minnow for parties of 1-2, The Queen Mary for 3-4 and The Mothershucker for 5-6). The Maryland blue crab cake has some pop and brings the crab flavor to the forefront. End your meal with the Key lime pie or pretzel and chocolate bread pudding. There's a decent wine list as well as craft beers including local selections like the 24th Street Pale Ale from Torrance's Strand Brewing Co. The tempting cocktails put twists on classics like the Moscow Mule. The friendly staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
