Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Texas natives and identical twins Jonathan and Justin Fox lead in the barbecue genre. Originally a filling station, the building needed extensive renovation necessitated by a falling oak tree, but the slightly wacky interior décor remains. Located in a separate structure, the smoker emits enticing aromas that waft over the parking lot and patio.

Food & Drinks: Innovative nibbles include the chicken fried ribs, smoked baby-backs dipped in a light batter and deep-fried, leaving them moist; Alabama white barbecue sauce accompanies an order of three. Designed for smoked chicken, white sauce also is excellent on brisket. With a moderately spicy rub, meaty St. Louis-style ribs have the slightly pink color at the bone --- the so-called "smoke ring" --- that implies their being cooked over wood. And no, the meat does not "fall off the bone," which results from oven cooking or other precooking, a scorned methodology. Beef short ribs may also be available, a nod to Texas tastes. There is very chunky Brunswick stew, and we find the mac 'n' cheese bland. Otherwise, sides are excellent. For dessert, consider chocolate pecan pie or homemade banana pudding. Decent wines along with good beer choices are offered. Get there early or prepare to wait. Also available in two locations at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons; at the Terrapin Taproom in The Battery at SunTrust Park, 755 Battery Ave. SE, 404-494-1202; and at a kiosk in Armour Yard, 120 Ottley Dr., Atlanta, no phone.
