Fred's Not Here Restaurant Review:

Located in Toronto’s Theater District, Fred’s Not Here is an ideal dining choice for those also wanting to take in a show. The restaurant offers a three-course dinner package in partnership with the Ed Mirvish Theatre, with items that differ from the main menu. This establishment’s out-of-date décor and sinking chairs may fool you, but the food and professional service soon indicate why guests keep coming back for more. Start with the baked lobster and crab bisque with a crisp puff pastry topping and rich seafood broth --- there's a reason why it's a beloved staple. Next, try the osso buco-inspired crispy pork with home-style braised red cabbage and duck fries. You can also delve into another specialty: the steaks, which are wood-grilled using hickory and applewood. Ricotta gnocchi with roasted red pepper marinara sauce is a satisfying and filling vegetarian option. Due to the hefty portion sizes, you may have difficulty saving room for dessert; we recommend the sorbet trio with refreshing raspberry, lemon and mango flavors. Well-rounded lists of red and white wines are available.
