Gaby Brasserie Française Restaurant Review:

Gaby was a glamorous model for Coco Chanel in Paris and Henri Bendel in New York; she was an adventurous spirit and the ultimate ingénue. The restaurant that bears her name, and her many likenesses, attempts to merge Gaby's Parisian and New York personalities with a ceiling mural and other artwork combining quintessential images from both cities. The room is chic, expensive and modern. Executive chef Sylvain Harribey, who was born in the north of France and raised in Bordeaux, presents a menu that includes French classics such as escargots and onion soup alongside more unexpected dishes like Atlantic salmon wrapped in pepper bacon then oven baked and served with spinach sauce and quinoa and vegetable julienne. There's also a "De-Light" menu featuring tasty low-calorie options for starters (citrus wild arugula salad) and mains (natural chicken breast roasted with Dijon mustard, apples, dried cranberries and honey roasted baby carrots). The wine list features around 40 different wines by the glass. As this is the hotel dining room of the Sofitel New York, breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and a pre-theater prix-fixe menu (5 p.m.-7 p.m., $35 for two courses, $45 for three courses) are also served.
