Green Ginger Restaurant Review:

The original Green Ginger is a large establishment broken up into more manageable and intimate spaces dedicated to different purposes. There's a sushi bar and a hibachi station, for instance, both separate from the main dining room. A sports/drinks bar with TVs appeals to a general audience. Asian decorative touches convey the culinary focus of the restaurant. Classic sushi and sashimi partner with those highly orchestrated rolls that have become so popular. One example is the "Lake Summer Roll," for which farm-raised salmon, red snapper, eel and bonito flakes are held together with soy paper and topped with avocado and yellowtail. Splashy in concept, but also very tasty. You’ll also encounter noodle bowls, such as Japanese ton don, finished with a half boiled egg; it provides plenty to share. As at most Asian restaurants, children are warmly received, and the hibachi chefs like to entertain even the youngest. Green tea fried ice cream is available for dessert. The wine list proposes selections that can complement the food. Asian brews on the beer roster make valid alternatives, especially for the many dishes that are marked as being hot. Also located at Commerce Plaza, 265 Ponce de Leon Pl., Decatur, 404-373-2788.
