Harry Cipriani Restaurant Review:

It's hard to recommend such an extraordinarily overpriced restaurant, but to devotees --- the likes of which include ex-models, ex-wives of moguls, moguls with models, etc. --- of this cramped Italian spot simply nothing else will do. The Ciprianis have opened other restaurants, but this elegant setting is still the one favored by society dames and Italian Italians, which is appropriate for this kin to the famed Harry's Bar in Venice. The cuisine, though, is some of the most authentically Italian in New York, especially the fine pastas (green tagliolini baked with ham) and the many choices of risotto. There's tuna tartare with tuna sauce and a cucumber salad among the appetizers. Most of the fish and meat offerings (calf's liver Venetian-style, for instance) lead up nicely to very good desserts. For starters, order a Bellini, the peach-Champagne concoction that was invented in Harry's Bar in Venice, and be prepared to pay during all courses for the transportation to Italy.
