Hawks Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Hawks is a surprising find in the suburbs of Sacramento. With an upscale design and well-crafted dishes, it is on par with the higher-end eateries in nearby San Francisco. The cool blue-grays, velvet-swathed bench seats and glistening chandelier are far from the local norm. Hawks focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients, many from local producers, and its menu changes accordingly. Starters may include house-made gnocchi with hen of the woods mushrooms or vegetable salad with goat cheese, while mains may include grilled Mt. Lassen red trout, braised rabbit with green garlic or crispy duck confit with green lentils. The same attention is given to desserts, such as the rhubarb soufflé with pink peppercorn crème anglaise or dark chocolate pot de crème with five spice churros.
