Helen Greek Food and Wine Restaurant Review:
Sommelier Evan Turner, who once lived in Greece, has finally realized his vision of a Greek taverna, which boasts the second largest all-Greek wine list in the country. Chef William Wright blends locally sourced produce with Greek recipes, resulting in a surprisingly approachable menu. Think classic dolmades made with collard greens and a phyllo-and-cheese pie created with fresh greens and three kinds of Greek cheeses. The butcher’s cut and Gulf Coast offerings change daily, but the grilled, feta-brined chicken is almost always available and a tasty choice. Finish off with the Texas pecan baklava sundae topped with ice cream and chocolate cinnamon sauce. Not familiar with Greek wines? No worries: Turner will lead you through the wine list and recommend the perfect pairing for your meal. Try the 2013 Biblia Chora "Ovilos" Assyrtiko/Semillon PGI Pangeon, Macedonia, with the wood-grilled octopus.
