THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hog & Rocks Restaurant Review:

Hog & Rocks is named after and defined by the relationship between swine and sea---a partnership quite a few culinary traditions gleefully sanctify. On offer: appealing and nicely composed plates of cured, pedigreed hams, including imported Serrano and prosciutto, and select raw oysters from domestic and international beds. Half the kudos should go to fine sourcing, but the kitchen's more labor-intensive offerings prove only slightly less consistent, running the gamut from excessively salty ham-wrapped oysters with parsnip purée to an addictive charred octopus with new potatoes and a vinaigrette spiked with ham. Side dishes shine, as with the roasted shishito peppers, bitter and begging for lemon, and a sweet corn gratin redolent of lime zest and coconut milk. Open late by San Francisco standards, Hog & Rocks attracts industry folks and night owls. Servers take orders until midnight, but even after the flow of food abates the bar chugs along until 1 a.m., offering fairly priced cocktails as well as thoughtful wine and beer selections.
