Alon and Rachel Munzer, who developed a following at their Bay Village breakfast spot Rachel's Kitchen, joined forces with chef Barry Maiden to open this intriguing hybrid near the Kendall Cinema. The food is an interesting combination of Dixie comfort and refined French technique. Down-home boiled Virginia peanuts with sea salt and the more European French gnocchi with wild burgundy escargots are good preludes. The ever-changing menu might include cornmeal-crusted catfish, a bavette steak with grilled Vidalias and Kentucky Worcestershire, and a seafood pan roast. Expect a diverse list of original cocktails, an eclectic and affordable wine list, and a selection of craft brews fit for a beer snob. End the meal with a rhubarb tart paired with a buttery Kronan toddy. The odd but successful union of Euro and Yankee style continues at the table (good flatware, beverages served in Mason jars) and in the hospitality (ultra-friendly servers and a low-key, solicitous sommelier).
