More approachable --- and less strange --- than Moto, this Homaro Cantu creation has a kitchen cooking up Asian-inflected dishes that range from conceptual to surprisingly straightforward. The narrow, exposed brick space doesn’t exactly attract attention, nor does it detract from what’s on the plate. Dishes change often but may include “duck waffles” of leg pavé, “hash browns” and waffle; or celery root-horseradish shrimp cocktail. In the past, we especially enjoyed the short rib with blue cheese and bacon. Cooking is “by the hour,” and interesting beverage pairings, which may include experimental house-honed nanobrews, are available. Book the kitchen table to see science experiments in action.
