Jamila's Cafe Restaurant Review:

Proprietors Moncef and Jamila Sbaa offer authentic Tunisian fare and are a constant presence in the dining room, making sure every guest is well tended. Wood paneled walls, funky lighting, white tablecloths and clouds painted on the ceiling combine to make this a surprisingly pleasant place to dine. The kitchen turns out the restaurant’s specialty, couscous with lamb, chicken or the combination royale. But you will want to start with an appetizer, reflecting the French influences common to both cuisines, such as escargots (heavy on the garlic butter) prepared with Calvados, and mussels in onion broth. More esoteric dishes are chorba (a whole-wheat fish soup with lemons and capers), brik au thon (phyllo stuffed with tuna, potatoes and onions) and grilled merguez (lamb sausage). For dessert, try the dark or white chocolate mousse. The wine list is unexpectedly extensive and complex for a place of this size.
