June Restaurant Review:

Entering June is like walking into 1920’s Paris, or maybe just encountering the prettiest version of modern-day Brooklyn. There’s a long marble bar and spacious booths, both perfect for sipping a glass, quartino or bottle of something from June’s thoughtful wine list, which focuses on natural and biodynamic bottles, mostly from Europe, and some standout Champagnes and quirky finds. Choose from creative cocktails and beer, too. Small plates include juicy tomatoes served with white peaches and creamy house-made ricotta, and squid a la plancha that comes atop just fiery enough red chili purée and tomatillos. Although June bills itself as a wine bar, it’s easy and wise to partake of an entire dinner, perhaps the tender 24-hour pork shoulder. Its richness is nicely tempered by sweet summer corn. For dessert, olive oil cake with lemon cream or a no-holds-barred chocolate ganache with a crumbly buckwheat cookie definitely satisfy.
