THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kambi Ramen House Restaurant Review:

This diminutive ramen house on East 14th Street, smack on the boundary between the East Village and Gramercy Park, has become a standby for when the line at Momofuku Noodle Bar is too long and Ippudo is too crowded. But it deserves more than to be considered a consolation prize. Diners start by choosing the broth: pork, chicken, vegetable or soy bean. Then the noodles: thin, wavy wheat or bean. There are also several types of bowls to choose from, of which the standouts are the kimchi, which is more subtle than it appears, and the spicy miso ramen (not very spicy), which has overtones of peanut butter and sesame. The daikon radish salad, infused with a sesame sauce, makes for a great accompaniment. Sit at the bar to watch the action.
