Kincaid's, located in the Ward Warehouse, is a handsome restaurant with restrained, sophisticated island-influenced décor. Soup and sandwich combos are popular at lunch, but we enjoy the salads, especially the crab Louie. Things become quite busy at dinner, so make reservations unless you don't mind a wait. If you can't be seated right away, the bar is lively (especially with the pau hana crowd). There you can get happy hour cocktails and appetizers, such as a basil gimlet or hot crab artichoke dip. At the tables, the selection of fresh fish changes daily, depending on what's available at the market. Reliable favorites include the braised beef short ribs with kalbi marinade and kimchi, roasted sea scallops, and rock salt-roasted prime rib. To end your meal, try the chocolate indulgence cake or sip an after-dinner cocktail like a salted caramel martini. The wine list is limited, with an accent on affordable California wines.
