THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kittichai Restaurant Review:

Kittichai is a seductive Thai hotspot in the SIXTY SoHo hotel. The dramatic décor features silks in warm tones of mauve and orange on the walls, and orchids in illuminated glass vases. In the middle of the restaurant, more blooms are suspended over a reflecting pool with floating tea lights and anthurium flowers. Chef Ian Chalermkittichai, the restaurant’s namesake, left the establishment for other projects and the kitchen is now under the guidance of chef Angus An, who also oversees Maenam in Vancouver. His menu features takes on traditional Thai dishes --- green papaya salad with dried shrimp --- as well as modern inspirations like snapper sashimi with cilantro vinaigrette, candied cashews and trout roe. Continue with innovative main dishes like grilled Arctic char in tamarind coconut broth or pork cheek prepared with a spiced palm sugar braise and truffle powder, served with steamed buns. Classic Kittichai desserts like the banana spring rolls can be found on the menu alongside frozen cheesecake with citrus lemon grass salad and vanilla crumble. Guests can also choose from four- or five-course tasting menus ($55 and $70 per person, respectively) served family-style. In addition, a three-course prix-fixe menu ($35) is available Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. The wine list is limited, so opt for one of the interesting beers or sexy cocktails. Kittichai also takes care of room service for the hotel.
