THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kupersmith Restaurant Review:

For years, the West Village’s The Spotted Pig was the only gastropub in New York City, which is surprising considering the insatiable thirst (and hunger) New York foodies had for it. But not to be outdone, the Lower East Side also has a gastropub it can call its own. Enter Kupersmith, named for the dress shop that occupied the space in the 1940s. The small-ish room is flanked by cozy black banquettes and walls thoughtfully bedecked with antique maps of the London tube system and other British-themed art. All of which encourages ordering a pint of beer (of which the selection on tap is rather ho-hum) and a hearty Guinness and ale pie. The menu is loaded up with links --- and by that, we mean sausages. Brit faves like fish ‘n’ chips and toad in the hole are also available.
