La Brasserie Bistro & Bar Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: French restaurants are few and far between in the arid California desert. But tucked away in a corner mini-mall at Highway 111 and Washington Street is this charming Parisian-style bistro. While you won’t be gazing at the Eiffel Tower from your table or taking a post-meal stroll along the Seine, your palate will certainly feel as if it’s embarked on a culinary journey.

Food & Drinks: Chef/owner and Brittany native Emmanuel Janin offers a seasonal menu using plenty of locally sourced ingredients. Signature dishes include vodka gravlax: a quartet of bite-size, cubed Belgian waffles topped with cured salmon and garnished with whole-grain mustard, dill and a horseradish cream. During colder months, the braised boeuf Bourguignon warms the palate. Fruits de mer include oysters, Gulf shrimp, king crab legs and mussels. The wine list features a heady selection of mostly French vintages.
