Le Cagibi Restaurant Review:

Le Cagibi is an all-vegetarian hangout in Montréal's Mile End area associated with the alternative, tech-savvy folk and the city’s creative class. Coffee isn’t the focus (you're better off down St-Viateur at Cafe Myriade or Cafe Olimpico); it’s all about the sandwiches and tacos oozing with melting cheese. Breakfast burritos come with egg or tofu and are served with salsa, yogurt and nachos; the “chilad” salad combines chili, mixed greens and fresh vegetables; and the quesadilla has spicy vegetables and cheese paired with mango salsa, yogurt and salad. Wine, sangría and local beer on tap are available. The ambience is decidedly retro, and the one-time pharmacy boasts a strange décor that includes poetry dispensed from cigarette machines, piles of children’s books, old chairs and a wide array of quirky objects. The back room has live music and other shows every night, ranging from acoustic singer-songwriter performances to indie bands to poetry slams. Settle in with a piece of chocolate layer cake or a dairy-free peanut butter square.
