THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Comptoir Charcuteries et Vins Restaurant Review:

Don’t be fooled by the somewhat ordinary décor of this neighborhood restaurant. Le Comptoir is always packed and for good reason. With a focus on fresh, local produce and a soft spot for quality cuts of meat (check out the butcher downstairs) this kitchen’s draw is the charcuterie plate, available in “petit” or “grand.” You’ll be tempted to order every small-ish plate on the menu, which is lovingly mapped out on the chalkboard behind the counter (“le comptoir”). A seasonal delight is octopus braised in white wine, potato tartelette with crème fraîche, chorizo and caramelized onion (yes, that’s one dish). All is prepared in the central open kitchen and served simply yet artfully. When choosing wine, go for a full bottle from the finely stocked cellar that specializes in organic wines. At lunch there are delectable options such as mackerel rillettes with soup or salad. And, oh yes, brunch --- start the day with scrambled eggs à la truffe and smoked duck.
