L'Escargot Restaurant Review:
L'Escargot has been feeding Soho for generations --- it was fashionable as long ago as the twenties. During the intervening years it has been through several different owners and several good and bad patches. At the moment the patch is good. There’s a large bustling restaurant on the ground floor with a French brasserie-style menu with private dining upstairs. The menu offers classics from steak tartare and lobster bisque, and mains that include stone bass with wild garlic, confit duck with rainbow chard, and beef bourguignon. It’s all well cooked and comforting in its reliability. This is traditional, rather old-fashioned cooking, but none the worse for it.
