Lockwood Restaurant Review:

Personally, we’ve always found the historic Palmer House Hilton --- what with its clashing patterns, marble and trompe l'oeil murals --- as garish as it is gracious. But the hotel’s mega-renovation (completed in 2008) left us pleasantly surprised --- especially when it comes to this happening, lobby-adjacent restaurant. The kitchen has seen its share of chef changes, the most recent being the arrival of Joe Rose (Sixteen, Pump Room). His dishes are nothing short of elegant. Eclectic, too. Hamachi lounges on a bed of avocado mousse with ginger-infused soy and nori dust, while rich hazelnut-crusted foie gras rests atop tender spiced bread. Proceed to flaky wild striped bass plated with chorizo, clams, mussels and Yukon Golds in gentle shellfish broth. Finish with uncommonly moist blueberry olive oil cake, paired with lemon-basil glacée, nuts and blood orange flan. The impressive wine list is as good as it ever was, so splurge and get pairings for your meal.
